An illustration from your hours, your years and a representative gap. Not a promise of compensation. Every claim depends on its own facts.
Back pay counts the last six years, so the estimate stops rising there.
Based on a representative gap of about £2.20 an hour, with back pay capped at six years. Illustrative only.
| DESCRIPTION | RATE | HRS | AMOUNT |
| Shop floor wage | £13.23 | 6 | £79.38 |
| Depot rate, store rate plus gap | £15.43 | 6 | £92.58 |
| Shortfall, this shift | -£2.20 | 6 | -£13.20 |
Equal work. Different rate.
The Equality Act says that if two jobs are of equal value, similar effort, skill and responsibility, the pay should be equal too. The jobs do not have to be identical, and both men and women in store roles can claim.
An hour, on the rates Morrisons, Asda and Sainsbury's published for 2026.
No supermarket publishes its depot rates. The size of that gap is what the tribunals are measuring.
Found to be of equal value to depot roles for 2008 to 2014, in the Asda case, which has run longest. A few roles were not.
They put it on the pallet. You take it off. Same stock, different rate. If a tribunal agrees the roles are of equal value, that gap can become back pay. Nobody is asking to cut depot pay.
Where the claims stand
These cases are years old and the supermarkets are contesting them. Nothing below is a prediction. It is where each case had reached on 2 September 2026.
-
Asda36 store roles have been found to be of equal value to depot roles, for work done between 2008 and 2014. A few roles were not, including personal shopper and edible grocery shop floor assistant. The Supreme Court settled in 2021 that store and depot roles can be compared. Asda's defence is heard from November 2026.claim opened 2014
-
MorrisonsMorrisons is defending the claim at tribunal in Leeds. Comparability was settled in 2021. The hearing on its defence ran from April to May 2026 and is listed to resume from 14 September.claim opened 2018
-
Sainsbury'sSainsbury's has accepted that store and depot roles can be compared. The stage that decides whether the work was of equal value is expected in 2027 or 2028.claim opened 2015
No supermarket has paid compensation on these claims, and no payment date has been set. Anyone telling you otherwise is guessing.

Your claim is handled by Parker Kerrigan
EvenPay is a claims management company. We check whether your situation looks like a claim and, if it does, refer you to Parker Kerrigan, a trading name of Harcus Parker Limited, solicitors authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. They run the claim. We do not.
You can also raise the issue with your employer, use Acas early conciliation for free, or bring a tribunal claim yourself. Using EvenPay does not guarantee a faster or better outcome.

In most cases a tribunal claim must be started while you still work there or within six months of leaving. Back pay is generally limited to the last six years in England and Wales, and five in Scotland.
If you left recently, those six months are what matter most. The check takes a minute and costs nothing.
Questions, answered
Who can claim?
Current and former hourly-paid store workers at Asda, Sainsbury's or Morrisons: checkouts, shop floor, counters, café, online picking, replenishment and similar in-store roles. Both men and women can claim. The comparison is between store roles and higher-paid depot roles, not between individuals.
Not every role qualifies at every supermarket. At Asda, personal shopper and edible grocery shop floor assistant were found not to be of equal value. The check is free, and the solicitors confirm whether your role is covered before anything starts.
I don't work there anymore. Can I still claim?
Possibly. In most cases a claim must be started while you are still employed or within six months of leaving. If you left longer ago, the position depends on your circumstances. The check is free either way.
I'm already in a claim with a union or another firm. Can I join this one?
No. You cannot be represented twice for the same claim. If you are already in one, stay with it. The check asks, so we do not refer you by mistake.
How much could I be owed?
It depends on your hours, how long you worked there, and the pay gap a tribunal finds. Back pay is generally limited to six years (five in Scotland). The estimator above is an illustration from the figures you enter, not a promise.
Will my job be at risk if I claim?
The law protects workers from being dismissed or treated unfairly for asserting their equal pay rights. Tens of thousands of supermarket workers have already brought equal pay claims.
What does it cost?
Nothing to check, and nothing if the claim does not succeed. If it succeeds, the solicitors' fee comes out of the back pay. Harcus Parker publishes 24% + VAT plus up to £150 towards disbursements for these claims through its Fair Pay UK service, and the terms that apply to you are in the funding agreement. You pay EvenPay nothing; the solicitors pay us a referral fee.
Who is EvenPay?
EvenPay is a trading style of Solvo Solutions Ltd, a claims management company authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We check your eligibility and refer your claim to Parker Kerrigan, who handle it. Full details are in the footer.
Every hour you worked counts.
Free to check. Your details reach the solicitors only when you sign their agreement.
Which supermarket did you work for?
Worked for more than one? Pick the one you worked at longest. You can tell the solicitors about the others.
Was your role hourly-paid, working in a store?
Checkouts, shop floor, counters, café, online picking, replenishment. Which roles qualify differs by supermarket, and the solicitors confirm yours. Warehouse and depot roles are the comparison, not the claim.
Do you still work there?
Time limits depend on when you left, so this matters more than exact dates.
Are you already part of an equal pay claim with a union or another firm?
Nobody can be represented twice for the same claim. If you are already in one, stay with it.
